What happened when Calgary removed fluoride from its water supply.
Why does the US have fluoride in the water? Back in the 1940s local dentists observed that people in some communities had staining on their teeth and were very resistant to tooth decay due to naturally high levels of fluoride in the water. Grand Rapids, Michigan was the first city to fluoridate its water.
With fluoridated toothpaste and mouthwashes it makes no sense to fluoridate the water. In animal and human models fluoride causes IQ loss.
Lindsay Mclaren: She goes on to talk about her study where the kids in Calgary had increased tooth decay (65% vs 55% in Edmonton which still had fluoride in the water). She mentions no controls for variables like a high sugar diet, frequency of brushing teeth, etc. and so her bias is pretty bad. There is no link to the study in order to hide the bias of the study. She goes on to push fluoride in the water with emotional arguments.
Bad things happen when people make decisions based on emotional arguments. Even at the city level, people should be able to decide for themselves what they want in their water. Add less to the water and let each family decide what they want.
How about add none to the water!!
