Do not buy anything from China until further notice.

I’ve been buying from China since 2016. I normally get packages in 2-4 weeks. There are big problems with manufacturing and shipping in China now.

A video reports that the mail centers in China are completely closed with packages piling up inside and outside so badly, you cannot walk through the building. Aliexpress and Alibaba are both sites that ship from China. Many sellers from Wish.com and Ebay also ship from China. I don’t know how many sellers on Etsy actually ship from China. A few sellers on Amazon also ship from China. Check the sellers details to find out where they are based before buying.

Mail centers shut down

Sometimes packages to nearby countries are routed through China. Do not send any packages or mail that will be routed through China. This might take months to clear this up.

Funeral parlous, crematoriums, hospitals, and “fever clinics” (which I think are like our Urgent Care for minor issues) are all overwhelmed. Medications for flu are out of stock in all stores. Crematoriums are a month behind and cannot keep up with demand. Trucks with bodies are lined up for 4km in some cases waiting for bodies to be burned. Earlier, back in 2021 I think, there was news that China was making portable crematoriums for an expected increase in dead bodies.

Tesla plants are closing for a week, but that might be for a normal holiday between Dec 25 and Jan 1.

There are also big shortages of personnel in many factories for various reasons, not just due to illness, or poor working conditions. You see in China many people come from small villages to work in the city. While in the city they live in packed dormitories and work long hours. Then at the Chinese New Year, typically in February, they go home to their village for 2-4 weeks to visit with family, then return to work.
