Employer job phrase translations

When employers list an open job position they often use some catch phrases, but what do they really mean? Here I’ll translate a few of them for you.

“We need a self-starter.”

We won’t give you any training.

“We need a team player.”

No one else does their job, so you will have to do their job too.

“Fast-pace environment!”

People don’t like to work here so we can’t hire enough people.

“We have competitive wages.”

Compared to mainland China.

“Work in an exciting, dynamic environment!”

Management doesn’t know what they’re doing so things change a lot.
