Despite the many failures of green energy, green energy will be forced on you. You don’t have to like it.
UK. If the latest gov't proposals go ahead, at least 22 per cent of the cars manufacturers sell next year (in 2024) will have to be electric – or they could face fines of up to £15,000 per car they miss their target by. No mention that the electric grid cannot support all the extra power (amps) it takes to charge the cars. Manufacturers selling fewer than 2,500 cars a year would be exempt. https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/car-makers-must-sell-22-evs-in-2024-or-face-huge-fines-under-tough-proposals/282071
While clean energy sounds good in theory, when you look at the actual numbers some things become clear.
The US electrical system (and probably electrical systems of all countries) cannot handle fast charging of electric vehicles even if only 30% of vehicles were all electric. The fast charging requires a 50 amp service/circuit, which most homes do not have. And the electrical grid cannot handle the increased load either, at least not without major upgrades, and major price hikes to support the upgrades.
The cost of owning green energy makes the cost of the energy 200% higher, or more in some cases. It’s just more expensive. In Michigan the cost per kwh is $.12usd, but green energy (without subsidies) costs a minimum of $.35usd.
I have my own photovoltaic system. Most people don’t know how to take care of it, they will thus incur more maintenance and repair charges. Some batteries (LiFePo) will be damaged if they are used under freezing temperatures so these must be kept in the house, not outside. A good LiFePo battery will shut off if the temperature is too cold.
