How well do arc lighters work?
An arc lighter is a lighter that takes a normal battery, pushes up the voltage to 5-10 kilovolts, to create an arc between 2 electrodes. It can be used to set things on fire. They are fun and look impressive. Some models have 2 arcs that criss-cross in an “X” pattern.
Do they work better than a lighter? No.
I tried to light candle wicks and incense. It takes a minute or so holding the arc to the item before it lights properly.
Advantages
So what are the advantages? They are wind-proof. They will probably light a cigarette more easily than a candle but I haven’t tried it.
They are rechargeable via USB.
