D3O® was invented in 1999 by British engineer Richard Palmer. It is a non-Newtonian fluid. It’s also called a “smart material”, which changes to adapt to its environment.
The D30 material can already be found in 100 products. When you smack it with a blunt object, it resists. It is similar to a corn flour and water mixture. D30 absorbs and dissipates energy. It is used in kneepads, football helmets, shoes, and on stunt man gear. Right now it only comes in bright orange.
Oobleck seems similar. Here’s 1 video. It is 2 parts corn starch, 1 part water.
