People under 40 (Generation Y, or Gen Whiners, or Gen Why Me?, along with Gen Z) are often given a bad rap. Writers cite a lack of imagination, lack of motivation, drama magnets, inability to persevere, profound ignorance on a variety of subjects (but especially basic economics) and entitlement when referring to those generations. While these are what make the younger generation different this does not mean the majority of those generations are like that, it just means these negative issues are more common.
Something I can give them credit for is a better work/life balance, although there are certainly cases where they claim “balance” but have a bad work ethic.
There’s such a thing as a good work ethic, but then there’s going too far. 19 extreme bosses. https://news.yahoo.com/19-bosses-ceos-unrealistic-expectations-151602432.html
I can also give them credit for addressing mental health issues and being able to talk about them. But there are still some individual cases where they actually empower and feed their anxieties too.
Overall, a life of balance seems to be a good compromise.
The problem with people under 40 being overly scrutinized by the older generations is that the Facebook/selfie generations exposed themselves to these criticisms by giving out too much information. Of course others will draw conclusions that are inaccurate. Get over it, learn to be poised and have some composure. Please stop the Tik Tok nonsense too.
