Money
Gov’t officials might have stock in big pharma companies, so they have a vested interest in the narrative of “safe and effective”. They might also be threatened with losing their jobs if they tell the truth.
Big ego
A big ego tries to protect itself from any pain and will not let people admit they were wrong.
Cowardice
Some people don’t have the courage to admit they really made a mistake. This is sometimes due to a big ego.
Bad habits
Some people simply trust the authorities, but have no factual evidence to back it up. They have always trusted the authorities, but over time, the authorities seem to have become more corrupt. They don’t seem to see that at all. Maybe they are out of touch with reality. Being out of touch with reality, if it becomes too bad, is psychosis.
Another reason is that they never learned to "question authority"! My father was a noted geochronologist who taught at Berkeley. He taught me to question authority & was always giving examples of students who questioned him. In science, it is always critically important to question because no one has the right answer!!! When it comes to health, it is critically important for each one of us to take responsibility for our good health on a daily basis. That means eating a healthy diet, getting plenty of VitC & D (plus other important nutrients) & exercising. I have done this for decades & so have many of my close friends who are also septuagenarians like I am.
